Who we are

We are a small group of volunteers, regular people who live in Canada. We are not English professors or teachers, not are we an organization or a school.

Our goal

Our goal is to give you the tools to integrate into Canada as quickly and painlessly as possible. The faster you can start to participate in the social and work life in Canada, the faster you will learn the language and start feeling more at home here, should you decide to stay.

How will we do it?

We will move away from the traditional learning models completely. You are in a unique situation, where most of you are about to be thrown into the sea of an unfamiliar culture and language. This is why the approach needs to be unique too. The most important part of adopting to this is losing the fear. Losing that fear is 50% of the battle, really. We will work on overcoming that fear of “looking stupid” if you say something incorrect. Starting to actively use even the most basic English skills will make you a part of the English-language environment and the contextual learning will do the rest for you. Especially in Canada, where almost everyone is an immigrant and understands what a language barrier feels like. We will combine this with learning about the available language technologies and walk you through on how to use them to make your life easier.

What will the format be?

All meetings will be held in Microsoft Teams. Informational resources will be posted here, in the Facebook group and on the YouTube channel. We will talk with experts to get your questions answered and with each other to discuss anything and everything and learn English in the process. We will learn by practicing conversations you will likely have in your daily lives.

How much does this cost?

This costs nothing for all Ukrainians, for all services. We are here to help.

So what it this?

Well, we believe that language is not a science, it’s a skill. And as all physical skills, it needs to be trained consistently to achieve results. Yes, grammar is important and we will cover things that will help us navigate the grammatical structures of the English language, but no more than that. No lectures, home works or tests. The calls will be a collaboration between you and us, we will share, vote and discuss the topics, from grocery shopping to buying a car or seeing a doctor. Then we will build scenarios of possible interactions, explore possible problems and questions, and learn the terminology needed and find resources that will be helpful in those situations.

Наша мета

Наша мета — надати вам інструменти для якнайшвидшої та безболісної інтеграції в Канаду. Чим швидше ви почнете брати участь у громадському та робочому житті в Канаді, тим швидше ви вивчите мову і почнете почувати себе як вдома, якщо вирішите залишитися.

Як ми це будемо робити?

Ми повністю відійдемо від традиційних моделей навчання. Ви опинилися в унікальній ситуації, де більшість із вас ось-ось потрапить у море незнайомої культури та мови. Ось чому підхід також має бути унікальним. Найважливішою частиною прийняття цього є втрата страху. Втрата цього страху – це 50% битви. Ми працюватимемо над подоланням страху «виглядати дурним», якщо ви скажете щось не так. Початок активного використання навіть найпростіших навичок англійської мови зробить вас частиною англомовного середовища, а контекстне навчання зробить все інше за вас. Особливо в Канаді, де майже всі є іммігрантами і розуміють, що таке мовний бар’єр. Ми поєднаємо це з вивченням доступних мовних технологій і розповімо вам, як використовувати їх, щоб полегшити ваше життя.

Яким буде формат?

Усі зустрічі відбуватимуться в Microsoft Teams. Інформаційні ресурси будуть розміщені тут, у групі Facebook та на YouTube-каналі. Ми будемо спілкуватися з експертами, щоб отримати відповіді на ваші запитання, і один з одним, щоб обговорити все, а потім і ще делька речей, та вивчати англійську в процесі. Ми будемо навчатися, практикуючи розмови, які ви, ймовірно, матимете у своєму повсякденному житті.

Скільки це коштує?

Це нічого не коштує для всіх українців, на всі послуги. Ми тут, щоб допомогти.

Так що це взагалі таке?

Ми вважаємо, що мова – це не наука, це натуральне людске вміння. І, як і всі фізичні навички, їх потрібно тренувати послідовно, щоб досягти результату. Так, граматика важлива, і ми розглянемо речі, які допоможуть нам орієнтуватися в граматичних структурах англійської мови, але не більше того. Без лекцій, домашніх та контрольних робіт. Дзвінки будуть спільною роботою між вами та нами, ми будемо ділитися, голосувати та обговорювати теми, від покупки продуктів до покупки автомобіля чи звернення до лікаря. Потім ми будуватимємо сценарії можливих взаємодій, дослідимо можливі проблеми та запитання, вивчимо необхідну термінологію та знайдемо ресурси, які будуть корисні в таких ситуаціях.
